Reminds me a lot of learning about those ~6 elementary theorems of linear algebra that look different on the surface, but all turn out to actually be equivalent.

This is not at all surprising, as matroids are sort of an abstraction of matrices.

Introduction to Matroids

It is very much an introductory textbook on a subject in mathematics, but it is also very well-written, and it is on a subject that I frankly think is underrated. So yeah, if you have any interest at all in mathematical topics, you should read it.
